The occurrence of equipment theft and unauthorised use of equipment is on the increase. Fusion has incorporated touch key technology that employs a secure electronic “key” to combat this problem in several ways.
User-specific data that is encoded within the key must be presented to the automatic butt fusion control unit (by touch contact) before certain control unit features are activated. The benefits of this system include:
• Protection from theft: Should a machine be stolen, it is rendered completely unusable without the correct electronic key. Each machine will only respond to keys that are programmed with the same owner information as the machine itself.
• Controlled use of the machine: Access to the machine can be limited to competent operators who are provided with ‘operator level’ keys. Access to advanced features within the machine can be further limited to owners of ‘supervisor level’ keys.
• Routine maintenance of a high standard is assured: Servicing of the machine can only be carried out by Fusion approved engineers, who are only provided with ‘engineer level’ keys once they have received the requisite training.
Note that all machines incorporating the touch key technology are clearly labelled. Each electronic key has a unique code and contains fully encoded data - as a result it is impossible for unauthorised keys to be created.
